Spend a peaceful, creative day weaving your own beautiful willow bird feeder from 9.30am–12pm in the heart of the woodland at Woodland Makery. Tucked among the trees, the cosy Hygge Hut provides the perfect setting to slow down, learn something new, and enjoy the simple pleasure of making by hand.
In this relaxed and friendly full-day workshop, you’ll be guided step-by-step through traditional willow weaving techniques to create a charming and practical bird feeder for your garden. Suitable for beginners as well as those with some experience, the session covers the foundations of working with willow — this is the start of Willow basketry and will hold bird fat balls. If you don’t want a bird feeder it makes a fantastic planter for all your spring flowers or natural herb dryer.
Throughout the morning, you’ll be surrounded by birdsong and woodland calm, with plenty of hot drinks and tasty snacks included to keep you cosy and refreshed. The Hygge Hut offers warmth, comfort, and that unmistakable woodland magic — whatever the weather. Weather permitting we will do our weaving in the fresh air so bring clothing to keep you warm and boots.
By 12pm, you’ll head home with a handcrafted willow bird feeder ready to hang outside and welcome feathered visitors, along with new skills, inspiration, and a wonderfully restorative day in nature.
